The following activities when performed in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities are regulated in the State of Kansas.

  • Lead Abatement
  • Lead Inspections
  • Risk Assessments
  • Lead Abatement Project Design
  • Renovation Activities

A child-occupied facility is defined as a building or portion of a building, constructed before 1978, visited by the same child six years of age or under, or at least two different days within any seven consecutive days, if each day's visit lasts at least three hours and the combined weekly visits last at least six hours, and the combined annual visits last at least 60 hours. Child-occupied facilities shall include day care centers, preschools, and kindergarten classrooms.

Any Individuals that performs any of these activities must be certified through the Healthy Homes Program.  Any firm, organization or governmental body that presents itself as being able to perform any of these activities must be licensed as a Lead Activity Firm or Lead Renovation Firm.
